What is David Attenborough's new series The Green Planet about and when does it start on BBC?

Sir David Attenborough will be returning to our screens in a documentary series that focuses on plants and nature.

The five-part series, called The Green Planet, will cover different themes in each episode - Water Worlds, Tropical Worlds, Human Worlds, Seasonal Worlds and Desert Worlds.

The docu-series travelled to various locations with Sir David narrating footage from Costa Rica, Mexico and California.

The 95-year-old is well known for his presenting of wildlife documentaries but recently has been a key figure in raising awareness of climate change.

The series has been said to have been a great passion project for Sir David, as he continue to make the case for urgent action to avoid climate catastrophe.

What is David Attenborough's new series Green Planet about?

The show, made by the world-famous National History Unit, will uncover the strange and interesting world of plants in different locations.

The series will also focus on advancements in technologies since The Private Life Of Plants aired on BBC One 26 years ago.

Viewers will journey into the world of plants through real-time and time-lapse sequences. The filming team used thermal cameras and macro stacking to give the documentary an incredible look.

When does The Green Planet start on BBC?

Episode one of the series will be 'Tropical World' and will start on Sunday, January 9 on BBC One at 7pm. It will be available afterwards on iPlayer.
