What is a Premier League deal sheet and when must they be submitted on transfer deadline day?

Time is running out for Premier League clubs to get their transfer business done, with the summer window closing at 5pm this evening (Thursday).

After months of speculation and negotiations, clubs are frantically working to get any outstanding deals over the line in the final few hours of the window, ahead of the deadline at 5pm.

But despite the 5pm cut off, clubs can actually conclude deals past the transfer deadline.

All they have to do is ensure that a deal sheet has been correctly filled in and submitted to the Premier League before 5pm.

A deal sheet allows a club to confirm that a deal has been reached in order to allow for additional time to submit the remaining documentation.

The sheet, however, cannot be used before 3pm, but once it has been submitted and a club has been granted an extension by the Premier League, they will have until 7pm to submit the full paperwork for the deal.

But if a club is looking to complete an international transfer, then they still have to comply with the FIFA Transfer Matching System deadline of midnight.

The key dates in the Premier League 2019/20 season

Deal sheets have been used in recent transfer windows by several clubs to get deals done, including Crystal Palace and Southampton during the last summer transfer window.
