What Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden did to Son Heung-min after Man City beat Tottenham

Manchester City are the Carabao Cup kings once again after beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the final.

Pep Guardiola's side were dominant in the first-half but couldn't find a breakthrough with Toby Alderweireld, in particular, producing a brilliant last-ditch goal-saving block to prevent Phil Foden from breaking the deadlock.

Spurs did come into the game after the break, but Aymeric Laporte popped up with what turned out to be the winner in the final 10 minutes to seal victory for the Premier League leaders.

It is now four seasons in a row in which City have lifted the Carabao Cup and despite the continued success, their players have remained humble.

As the final whistle blew at Wembley Stadium, Foden and Ilkay Gundogan didn't immediately run over to celebrate winning the final with their City teammates.

Instead, they went over to comfort Spurs forward Son Heung-min.

Captured by the Sky Sports cameras, Gundogan was first to give Son some words of encouragement before Foden came over and patted the South Korea international on the back.

Gundogan and Foden weren't the only Man City players to console Son as Kevin De Bruyne did the same.

The Belgian playmaker helped the Spurs ace back to his feet and the pair had a brief exchange before going their separate ways.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports co-commentator Gary Neville had suggested that Laporte was fortunate to still be on the pitch to score the winner after avoiding two yellow cards in the first half.

Pundits Micah Richards and Jamie Redknapp agreed with the ex-Manchester United defender.

"The first one is a definite yellow card. He gets another one and he should be sent off. He’s fortunate to stay on the pitch." Richards said.

"He’s very lucky, Micah. Very lucky," Redknapp added.
