We live in a society where people love to demand things. Recently, fans spent a bunch of money to go to a Tribeca Festival event with Miley Cyrus and when they realized it was a talkback, they began demanding that Cyrus sing when that wasn’t what they paid for.
Videos began to surface of Cyrus on stage at the festival and fans were in the audience screaming. One said “We thought this was a concert! We paid $800! Are you actually going to sing…” That isn’t her fault. That’s on the person who spend $800 and didn’t read what they were paying money for.
I understand that going to events that you’re not used to makes it a little complicated because you might not know what is going on. I’m used to being able to read this stuff and know what event is what. But to spend that much money and not even question whether or not it is a concert is fully on you at that point. And when you’re in a room like that, watching Cyrus on stage talking, maybe don’t scream during it!
Other people did read when they bought their tickets and they know what to expect from the situation!
It is entitlement at its finest
I don’t understand any part of this situation. Did you not read? The event on the Tribeca website describes the film. “Fueled by fantasy, Something Beautiful is a one-of-a-kind pop opera featuring thirteen original new songs from the Something Beautiful album.” Then, it says, very CLEARLY: “An exclusive conversation with Miley Cyrus.”
I think the operative word there is “conversation” so if you bought tickets and just assumed that she would sing during that, that’s on you! It says “conversation.” Not, “maybe she’ll sing” or “concert and a conversation.”
All this does is show how entitled fans can be. Why do you think that you’re special? You spent that much money on something and didn’t read the description? That’s on you! Not Miley Cyrus and you should be ashamed for acting this way.
