What if now-Dallas Mavericks veteran floor general Kyrie Irving stayed with the Boston Celtics instead of joining the Brooklyn Nets in 2019? Given all the things we have seen since, it is fair to wonder if Kyrie’s fickle levels of commitment would have impacted the Celtics’ performance in subsequent seasons.
And it is not out of the question things might also have gone better for all involved had he stayed even if it can make one’s skin crawl thinking about revisiting that era of Boston history. The cascading effects of his exit might also see the direction of the team’s contention arc and the development of its younger players change greatly.
