'What I came here for' - Nottingham Forest striker explains reason for League One loan move

Tyler Walker says the pressure of being Lincoln City's primary goalscorer was part of the reason for him joining the club on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest.

Forest striker Walker is currently out on the sixth loan spell of his young career, following an eye-catching campaign with Mansfield Town in 2018-19, when he netted 22 times in League Two.

The 23-year-old has already scored seven times for the Imps in League One this season, with only four players ahead of him in the division's goalscoring charts at this stage.

Lincoln are 15th in the table after 15 games, with five wins, two draws and eight defeats to their name - and Walker having bagged close to half of his side's 17 goals to date.

That is a responsibility the Forest academy graduate is relishing.

“I like the pressure, that’s what I came here for. I wanted that pressure on my shoulders, and as a striker that’s what you have to expect," he told the club's website.

“As a striker you want to be getting 20 goals and above, and that would be a good return and hopefully I’ll be able to get there.

"I think we are creating good chances, but at the minute the luck isn’t going our way, but hopefully that will change in the next few games and we get the points that we need.

“If we create the chances, I back myself to score. I haven’t scored in a couple of games now and I want to make that right on Saturday.”

Walker - who has scored six goals in his 38 appearances for Forest across all competitions - is set to come up against one of his former loan clubs this weekend, when City host Bolton Wanderers.
