Fibbing your way into a new job isn’t as unusual as you may think: one in three of us tell porkies on our CV, while over 81% of applicants make things up in a job interview (occasionally with disastrous consequences).
So from initial application to accepting the offer – whether you exaggerated your responsibilities, or bumped up a bad grade on your CV – we want you to share stories of what you lied about to get a job.
Did the lie work? Did you get found out – or did you get the job? Do you regret lying in your job hunt, or do you think a little white lie is harmless? If you fabricated an entire role at interview, or were creative with your CV timings – share your stories with us.
The date for contributions will be from Monday 3 until Sunday 16 October at 12 midnight, and you can submit anonymously using the online form below. We will bring together a selection to be published on the Guardian Careers site. The contributions we pick will also be shared across our social media channels.
Share your stories, photos and videos by clicking on the blue “Contribute” button on this article. You can also use the Guardian app and search for “GuardianWitness assignments” where you can add it to the homepage to keep up with all our assignments.
- GuardianWitness is the home of readers’ content on the Guardian. Contribute your video, pictures and stories, and browse news, reviews and creations submitted by others.
