Not-so fucking money... Is 1997's Swingers the last time Vince Vaughn was actually any good?
In the changing room of the gym, there are a large group of twittering women standing around. I'm mainly blocking them out, but suddenly, the whirr of the hairdryers dies down, and one phrase leaps out of the burble...
"...and you know, you'd think it would be really good. Because it's got Vince Vaughn in it."
What?
Is that a thing? Is it really? Is it a thing that people would naturally assume, seeing Vince Vaughn above the title of a new release? Because to my memory, the Double-V-ouvre is patchy at best. Swingers, good; Gus Vant Sant's Psycho, surely bad; Dodgeball - good (arguably); The Break Up - no. Of course, even those are points of heavy debate - ask a random selection of people and you'll get a completely different list of goods and bads - so the question seems to be, most accurately: "Vince Vaughn?"
But all I could think, when I heard the twittering women in the changing room last night was:
"You'd think it would be really good. Because it's got Vince Vaughan in it."
