What has to happen for Celtic to go through when they face Lazio next month

Celtic have the opportunity to eliminate Lazio from the Europa League and secure qualification themselves when they visit Rome next month.

A late header from Christopher Jullien gave the Hoops a dramatic victory in Glasgow tonight, ensuring they stay top of the table ahead of the trip to the Stadio Olimpico.

That match is shaping up to be a big one, as the Italians will be playing for their European lives in the Eternal City.

If Celtic win in Italy for the first time in their history, they'll secure their place in the Last 32 of the Europa League, depending on Cluj's result in Romania.

A win would leave Neil Lennon's side seven points ahead of Lazio with just two games to play, guaranteeing that they'll finish above them.

If Cluj beat the French in Transylvania then Rennes would also be eliminated, leaving the top two to fight it out to be crowned the winners of Group E.

Provided Celtic win in Italy a draw in that match would also be enough to send them through, but a Rennes win would mean they'd have to avoid defeat to the Ligue 1 side at Celtic Park on November 28 to advance.

That's because Rennes would then be on four points, six behind Celtic, and could grab the head-to-head advantage by winning in Glasgow.
