What has happened to Newcastle United youngster Kyle Scott?

Newcastle United youngster Kyle Scott is now back to full fitness and determined to prove his worth on Tyneside.

The 22-year-old, who turned down Barcelona before joining the Magpies , has been recovering from a groin injury and underwent an operation in the New Year.

Chronicle Live understands that there was interest from Championship sides and teams in the MLS to take the midfielder on loan in January, but injury ruled a move out.

The former Chelsea youth player also wanted to stay at St James' Park .

The hope is that Scott - who is said now to be waiting for the sign off from the physio - will finish the season strongly and build up to pre-season with an eye on impressing first team head coach Steve Bruce.

Scott had made 12 appearances for the U23s this season, and word from his camp was that the emergence of Sean Longstaff last season into the first team was a big draw for the American - with the club seen as a good platform for young players.

The U23s is now led by former Ipswich defender Chris Hogg - whose first game ended in a comfortable 6-2 win over Scunthorpe.
