What Harry Maguire told Manchester United players after Marcus Rashford's goal vs Leicester

Harry Maguire told his Manchester United teammates to step things up against Leicester City despite going ahead.

The Reds went 1-0 up through Marcus Rashford's opening goal midway through the first half but were pegged back when Harvey Barnes lashed in from the edge of the box to leave the scores level at 1-1 at half-time.

It was revealed on BT Sport by pundit Robbie Savage that, when United were celebrating Rashford's goal, Reds captain Maguire told his teammates that they needed to improve despite being 1-0 up.

Savage chalked that up to the fact that Leicester were doing most of the pressing during the opening stages, which is what eventually also led to Barnes' equalising goal.

He said: "When they were celebrating, he ran over and said 'let's lift it now, let's lift it', even though they'd just gone 1-0 up.

"I think he knew as captain that they weren't performing as they should be.

"The way Leicester pressed in that first half, it was two counter-attacking sides, but I think Leicester wanted to take the initiative.

"They had more possession with 56 per cent and they wanted to press, win the ball back high up the park.

"The press inevitably led to a goal."

Former United midfielder Paul Scholes agreed, admitting that the Foxes were the better team in the first half at the King Power Stadium.

He said: "I think Leicester have probably been the better team.

"United were a little lucky to go ahead but they found themselves there until Leicester came back into the game."
