What Harry Kane told Man United's Mason Greenwood and Man City's Phil Foden after England incident

England captain Harry Kane has detailed the text message he sent to Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood after they left the national squad prematurely.

The Manchester City and Manchester United youngsters were sent home after breaching coronavirus protocols in Iceland following the 1-0 victory in the UEFA Nations League.

Kane quickly issued a message of support to his compatriots though, stating that they made a mistake and will learn from it.

“As a senior player it’s something you have to do [speak to them]," Kane said. "The two lads have made a mistake and have to learn from it. There is a lot of responsibility playing for England and they have to learn from it.

“At the end of the day, the boys have made a big mistake. I’m sure they would take it back if they could but I’m a believer you have to move on and learn from adversity.

“I’ve texted them both and some of the other boys have too. I wanted them to know they are not alone.”
