Jamie Redknapp has shared what Tottenham striker Harry Kane said about young defender Japhet Tanganga, with the youngster poised for his Premier League debut.
Jose Mourinho sprung a big surprise with his team selection by naming the 20-year-old in the starting line-up against Premier League leaders Liverpool ahead of Jan Vertonghen.
With his only previous first-team football coming in the League Cup against Colchester United, it presents a huge opportunity for the 20-year-old to make an impression.
Speaking ahead of the game, Redknapp revealed what Kane had told him about the striker to give an indication of what the fans can expect from their newest academy graduate.
"What a night for him to play against the best team in the world right now, 20-years-of age, it's a big opportunity but it doesn't get any tougher," he told Sky Sports.
"I spoke to Harry Kane about him and he said he's a strong boy, incredibly aggressive when he's defending on those one against one situations, but until you play in a theatre like this on an occasion like this, you don't know how they're going to cope.
"I'm excited for him. I'm not quite sure how Jan Vertonghen will feel right now but that's football, it happens to everyone."
