What happened when Arsenal's FA Cup quarter-final tie vs Sheffield United was simulated

Arsenal were due to face Sheffield United in the quarter-final of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

However, with football in England suspended because of the coronavirus outbreak, the Gunners' trip to Bramall Lane was postponed and there's no sign of when the tie will take place - if it does.

With that said, in an alternative universe the game did go ahead.

Arsenal's player of the season so far

Thanks to the power of video games, Sheffield United vs Arsenal was simulated on FIFA 20 and the official FA Cup Twitter account shared what happened with all four quarter-final ties.

And the final score at Bramall Lane would have delighted Mikel Arteta and his squad.

Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette each netted a brace while Dani Ceballos was also on the scoresheet to ensure the north London outfit thrashed the Blades 5-0.

This would have been the ultimate revenge for Arsenal after they were beaten by United in the Premier League all the way back in October  and the pair were rivals for a top-four/five spot before the season was suspended.

Furthermore, the result would have kept the Gunners on course to win the FA Cup once again, something which Arteta has targeted right from the beginning of his reign.

"When I arrived here, obviously we were trying to fight for the Premier League but we did not really have the level of compete and sustain it every year," he said before the third round win over Leeds United.

"So the cups become very important and obviously this club has a massive history.

"But we’d had [nine] years without winning absolutely anything.

"For us, to lift that first FA Cup for this football club was like a massive relief that they tried to get this club again fighting to win some trophies and be there for everybody to see.

"It generated a really good belief and unity around our team and that helped that group of players to achieve what they achieved later when they won other cups.”
