What happened to Willian and David Luiz in Arsenal training session ahead of Man City trip

Spirits are high in the Arsenal camp ahead of the return to Premier League action next weekend.

That's no surprise given the strong start to the season made by Mikel Arteta's side - with the 3-1 loss against reigning champions Liverpool the only stain on an otherwise unblemished record.

They've beaten Fulham, West Ham United, and Sheffield United in the league, and progressed to the Carabao Cup quarter-final by overcoming Leicester City and Jurgen Klopp's side away from home.

Arsenal stars in England training

That competition can be placed on the back burner until December where they'll face holders Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking of Arteta's former club, they are the Gunners' first opponents after the international break as Pep Guardiola looks to end a run of two games without a win.

And ahead of the trip to the Etihad Stadium, the Arsenal players who haven't been called up by their respective nations have been put through their paces in training at the club's London Colney base.

Although, there was an unfortunate moment for five players.

Willian, David Luiz, Sokratis, Joe Willock, and Mohamed Elneny were all tasked with an exercise that focused on ensuring the ball ended up inside the tub.

However, Sokratis failed to guide the ball into the tub after a mix-up between Luiz and Elneny.

As a result, all five players had to do push-ups as their forfeit which can be seen at around the 0.48-minute mark from the club's 'Behind the scenes at Arsenal training centre' YouTube video.

International call-ups means reduced first-team numbers at London Colney.

Bukayo Saka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are with the England senior squad for games against Wales, Belgium, and Denmark, while deadline day signing Thomas Partey is away with the Ghana squad.

Meanwhile, the likes of Kieran Tierney, Sead Kolasinac, Dani Ceballos, Granit Xhaka, Nicolas Pepe, and Eddie Nketiah are also away on international duty.
