What happened to Thomas Partey in Arsenal training session ahead of Man City clash

Thomas Partey's second Arsenal training session is in the books.

The midfielder joined the Gunners in a £45m deal from Atletico Madrid on transfer deadline at the beginning of the month, but only joined up with his new teammates this week.

That was because Partey was on international duty with Ghana where he delighted a number of Arsenal fans by recording two assists in a 5-1 friendly win over Qatar.

And after a busy day of media duties at his official unveiling earlier in the week, it was straight down to more serious matters at London Colney ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash against Manchester City.

Partey is in contention to make his Gunners debut at the Etihad Stadium, although Mikel Arteta wasn't giving too much away in regards to the team selection.

"He was here just yesterday, getting familiar with everything around the club," the Gunners boss said in his pre-match press conference. "Today he will have his first training session.

"Everything has to come really quickly for him. We knew that before we signed him.

"But he's fit, he's very willing to start playing. We will see how he goes in the next few days.

"Let’s see, he needs to put a training session today and see how he goes in the next 48 hours. Then we will make a decision on whether he plays or not."

Images and video footage of Partey's second Arsenal training session have emerged ahead of Arsenal's return to Premier League action.

In the club's 'Behind the scenes at Arsenal Training Centre' video uploaded to YouTube, the 27-year-old can be seen settling in well with his new teammates.

At around the 1.24-minute mark there's an interesting drill that ends with him embracing David Luiz.

Other than that it's a standard training session for Partey as Arteta kept a close eye.

With that said, the video does end with the midfielder receiving a round of applause from some of his teammates after appearing to find the back of the net with a left-footed shot.

Furthermore, Emile Smith Rowe and Shkodran Mustafi were also spotted in the session as they near a return from injury, while Gabriel Martinelli was back outside doing some ball work.
