Chelsea defender Thiago Silva knows exactly what's in store for him this season.
The centre-back is one of two arrivals at Stamford Bridge this summer who hasn't commanded a fee as he is a free transfer after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired at the end of last season.
Tasked with helping improve the Blues' defensive record, there was a Premier League debut for the Brazilian against West Brom on Saturday evening - and it was an eventful one, to say the least.
But ahead of the game, Jamie Redknapp predicted that Thiago Silva could prove to be the Blues' best signing.
"His presence as soon as he walked into the place must have been immense because he's a leader, Redknapp said on Sky Sports. "Obviously Jorginho is normally the captain if [Cesar] Azpilicueta doesn't play.
"Both of those two are on the bench today.
"But it shows you that he thinks the world of him, he's got that aura about him that great players have.
"His last game was in a Champions League final and that was five weeks ago.
"He could end up being their best signing because of the importance in that area.
"They've got lots of good players going forward, but right now if you looked at Chelsea and said 'where are they slightly weaker?', 'where do they need a bit of a presence?', 'where do they need someone to head the ball at set-pieces and just lead that line?' it's in defence.
"And I think he could that person, he's such a big player for Chelsea this season as long as he stays fit."
Redknapp's prediction would backfire on him almost immediately.
With the Blues already trailing 1-0, Thiago Silva cheaply conceded possession and moments later his side were 2-0 down.
To make matters worse, he lost the captaincy at the start of the second half, was then substituted, but will have been relieved to see the Blues fightback and earn a point.
