What happened to the 14 players who only made one Premier League appearance for Liverpool

Ben Doak became the 246th player to make a Premier League appearance for Liverpool after he came off the bench in their 3-1 victory over Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Jurgen Klopp's side ran out comfortable winners at Villa Park thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Djik and Stefan Bajcetic, with Ollie Watkins scoring for Villa. It was a result that put the Reds just five points behind the Champions League places heading into their clash with Leicester City on December 30.

But 17-year-old Doak will remember the day for the rest of his life, having made his Premier League debut for the Reds. He is one of just 14 players who are on just a single Liverpool appearance in the top-flight, with Conor Coady, Sergi Canos and Stephen Darby amongst the others.

So, with that in mind, here are the 14 and what they are doing now.

Conor Coady

Having come through the ranks at the Reds, Coady made his Premier League bow in May 2013 against Fulham. However, Coady left Liverpool a year later and has since played for Sheffield United, Huddersfield Town, Wolves and Everton, where he is now a regular starter at Goodison Park.

Kaide Gordon

A talented youngster, Kaide Gordon made his league debut as a substitute back in January in a 2-1 win over Brentford at Anfield. The 18-year-old hasn't played a minute this season, however, having been out injured since the start of the campaign.

David Raven

The 37-year-old made just one league appearances for the Reds, before going on to have a lengthy career in the game. David Raven has played for the likes of Shrewsbury Town, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Carlisle United, before finishing his playing days at Marine last year. He is now a coach at seventh-tier side Warrington Town.

Jon Newby

The forward was part of the Reds set-up for 10 years before his Premier League bow, having played against Middlesbrough in 2000. But Newby left for Bury on a permanent deal after a series of loan spells and since has had a long career in the game, winning the Conference with Burton Albion in 2009 as his biggest achievement. Newby ended his career with Warrington in 2014.

Daniele Padelli

The Italian 'keeper spent a short time on loan at Liverpool in 2007, where he made just one Premier League appearance. Danielle Padelli is currently plying his trade at Udinese, having also played for Como, Sampdoria, Torino and Inter Milan.

Jordan Rossiter

A product of the Liverpool academy, Rossiter was tipped for big things at the Reds, however, his Premier League career at the club would finish on just a single appearance. The midfielder left to join Rangers in 2016, and he spent four years at Ibrox, before going on to play for Bury, Fleetwood Town and now Bristol Rovers.

Istvan Kozma

The oldest name on the list, Istvan Kozma made his Liverpool league debut during the 1993/94 debut, and he played a total of just six games before leaving the club. The 58-year-old retired from football in 2001, having last donned the jersey of Ujpest.

Ben Doak

The Scottish winger joined Liverpool from Celtic earlier this year and finally made his league debut against Villa after previously impressing for the Reds against Derby County in the Carabao Cup. Doak, 17, has became the youngest Scottish player to play in the Premier League in the process and has been backed to have a big career at the club.

Sergi Canos

Now, at Brentford, Canos has been a key cog in the wheel at the Bees following their promotion to the top-flight. The Spaniard, who made one Premier League appearance for Liverpool, left to join Norwich City in 2016, before later moving to Brentford. He has since made 247 appearances for the Bees, and famously scored their first goal against Arsenal on the opening day of last season.

Pedro Chirivella

The defensive midfielder was tipped to cement his place in the Liverpool side after the Reds captured the highly-rated player from Valencia in 2013 amid links to Barcelona and Real Madrid. However, Pedro Chirivella hasn't particularly lived up to expectations, although he is playing regularly at Nantes in Ligue 1.

Bobby Clark

The 17-year-old has been a regular in the Liverpool squad all season, although he has made just one appearance in the league. Bobby Clark came off the bench in the Reds' 9-0 win over Bournemouth in August, before later impressing from the start against Derby in the cup.

Rafael Camacho

Born in Lisbon, Rafael Camacho is currently playing for Sporting Lisbon, having made just one league appearance for Liverpool. He is, however, out on loan at Aris after also spending time out at Rio Ave and B-SAD.

Patrice Luzi

The 42-year-old struggled for regular game time at the start of his career and played just once for Monaco, Ajaccio and Liverpool in the league, before moving on to play more minutes. Patrice Luzi retired from football in 2010, having last played for Rennes.

Stephen Darby

Unfortunately, Stephen Darby was forced to end his playing career in 2018 at the age of just 29 after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Darby had a successful career at Swindon, Notts County and Bradford amongst others, before he was told the devastating news while at Bolton Wanderers.
