What happened to Jorginho in Chelsea training session ahead of Southampton trip

The Chelsea squad are in high spirits ahead of Sunday afternoon's Premier League clash against Southampton.

And they have every reason to be.

Frank Lampard's side have responded brilliantly to losses against Valencia and Liverpool last month to string together three straight wins across all competitions.

The Blues will be hoping to make it four wins in a row at St Mary's in the final game before the second international break of the season.

Ahead of the trip to the south coast, the likes of Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Jorginho and Tammy Abraham were put through their paces at the club's training base in Cobham on Friday afternoon.

And there appeared to be an unfortunate moment for Jorginho.

As spotted in a behind the scenes of Chelsea's training session video uploaded to the club's YouTube page, the midfielder can be seen on the ground and being teased by the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Pedro, Tammy Abraham and Marcos Alonso.

It's not clear as to what happened.

But the speculation could be that Jorginho was nutmegged by one of his teammates and thus prompted an hilarious reaction from the majority of the squad.

Friday also proved to be a special day for the Italy international as he was confirmed as the club's new vice-captain.

"Yes, Jorginho is vice-captain as it stands," Lampard confirmed in his pre-match press conference. "Azpi is the captain and that was clear at the start of the season and I think his professionalism and career here speaks for itself.

"Jorginho, I keep talking about him, is a character and a driver. It is very evident to see on the pitch.

"That's the situation as it stands."
