Kai Havertz was back in action for Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday afternoon.
Injury had kept the 21-year-old on the sidelines for last weekend's defeat at home to Bayern Munich as well as the 3-0 German Cup win over Saarbrucken a few days later.
The attacking midfielder was battling a muscle issue picked up in the victory away to Freiburg two weeks ago, when he scored the only goal of the game from an acute angle and under pressure from a defender.
But ahead of Leverkusen's return to Bundesliga action, most of the talk was about Havertz's fitness.
On Friday it emerged that the Germany international was a doubt for the clash against Schalke.
"We only did light training this morning," Leverkusen head coach Peter Bosz said on Friday. "We have to be careful and I can't say anything definite about Kai."
That proved to be somewhat of a ploy on Bosz behalf as he named Havertz in his starting line-up at the VELTINS-Arena.
Furthermore, this was Havertz' first appearance since The Mail reported that Chelsea had opened talks with Leverkusen about signing him for £70m-£75m in the summer transfer window.
Bild have since confimed that talks between are ongoing, but warn that the Blues face competition from the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Newcastle United.
So the stage was set for Havertz to show why he is in-demand ahead of the summer window.
However, he had a game to forget as highlighted by Squawka's tweet.
Before being substituted in the 70th minute Havertz managed one shot and created just one chance for a teammate.
It's safe to say the midfielder was a little rusty because of recent injury problems and will have been relieved to see Leverkusen rescue a point with an equaliser in the 81st minute.
Chelsea fans can next see Havertz in action against Koln this Wednesday.
