Mason Mount appears to have already won over new Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel.
The 22-year-old was a surprise omission from the team that started the goalless draw against Wolves last week in what was the Blues' first following the sacking of Frank Lampard.
With that said, Mount was a second half substitute that evening and made such a difference that he was restored to the starting XI against Burnley a few days later.
And Tuchel kept faith in the England international for Thursday night's London derby away at Tottenham, deploying him as somewhat of a false nine, and that tactical change paid off.
Despite not getting on the scoresheet, Mount's positioning caused problems for the Spurs midfield and was denied a goal by Hugo Lloris' brilliant save in the second half.
Chelsea took all three points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to Jorginho's penalty, but what happened between Tuchel and Mount at the full-time whistle that will delight fans.
As reported by Goal, Mount was grabbed by Tuchel and received a pep talk after playing a key role in the 1-0 win.
Speaking about his positional change, Mount hinted at it becoming a permanent role for him under Tuchel.
"This is the style the manager wants us to play and it's been working well," Mount explained BT Sport after the game. "It's something we need to keep working at because it's new, different for some of us.
"Me today, I was playing a bit like a false nine, dropping into that ten position and helping the midfield out. We're all learning but it's going well so far.
"It's a positive for us and makes it difficult for the teams we come up against: they are never going to know what we come with.
"So we're working on different formations, different tactics day in, day out at training.
"We're focused on getting better and better and those wins."
