What Haaland has already told Szoboszlai as Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard lands new job

Your morning Liverpool digest for Tuesday, July 4.

What Erling Haaland told Dominik Szoboszlai after he completed £60m Liverpool transfer

Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed he has reached out to Manchester City striker Erling Haaland for advice after completing his move to Liverpool on Sunday.

And the £60m signing has also detailed his busy off-the-field schedule before he reports for pre-season training with his new club on July 11 at the AXA Training Centre.

Szobozslai became the club's second signing of the summer when he officially signed a five-year contract on Sunday following completion of a medical at the Reds' Kirkby base.

Liverpool moved quickly to secure the deal with RB Leipzig after meeting the player's representatives at the beginning of last week. The Reds triggered the 22-year-old's £60m release clause on Friday before flying him into Merseyside on Saturday afternoon.

Szoboszlai developed a close friendship with City striker Haaland during their time together with Red Bull Salzburg and the new No.8 thinks it is possible that they might even become neighbours in the north west after a conversation with the Norway forward.

"We've talked," Szoboszlai told the Hungarian-based Nemzeti Sport. "So much so that Erling Haaland has also advised on finding real estate, and it could very well be that we become neighbours.

"I learned from him that several players live halfway between Manchester and Liverpool in a quiet area where privacy can be preserved, and on Monday I will see what he was talking about, I am very curious.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard makes dramatic managerial move after u-turn

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has made a dramatic return to management by taking over the reins at Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq.

The 43-year-old, who enjoyed an incredible playing career at Anfield, has not returned to the dugout since he was sacked by Aston Villa after an ill-fated 11-month reign was ended in October 2022 with the Midlands outfit hovering above the Premier League's relegation zone.

But despite initially opting against a move to the Saudi Pro League outfit after talks were first held in June, Gerrard has now finalised a two-year contract to take over Al Ettifaq. The former Reds captain is the latest high-profile figure within the game to venture to the Middle East, just seven months after Cristiano Ronaldo paved the way and signed for Al Nassr following his departure from Manchester United.

Gerrard was pictured arriving at the club's training base last month as he jetted out to Gulf State to thrash out talks with officials. But speaking during a punditry appearance on Channel 4 just days later as England hosted North Macedonia at Old Trafford, Gerrard said: "I was invited over there to look at a potential offer, which I did. I have been analysing that over the last couple of days. But, as we stand right now, I won't be taking that offer up."
