Hairdressers, beauty salons and barber shops will be able to reopen from December 2, Boris Johnson confirmed today.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr Johnson confirmed what measures will be in place throughout each tier in the Government's new system.
Setting out his Winter plan Boris said it was "designed to carry us safety to Spring"
There was concern among many working within the beauty industry that the Government may order businesses to remain closed, however it was confirmed this afternoon shops, gyms, personal care and leisure sector will be able to reopen in all tiers.
That means hairdressers and beauty salons will be able to reopen no matter what tier the Liverpool City Region is placed into.
Details on which areas will be placed in the highest tier, tier 3, will be announced later this week.
Elsewhere, the PM confirmed there would be stricter restrictions for the hospitality industry in areas placed in tier 2 or 3.
He said: "We are not going to replace national measures into a free for all."
Pubs, bars and restaurants in tier 2 will be able to serve alcohol if it is as part of a substantial meal whilst those in tier 3 will close completely except for delivery or takeaway.
Indoor entertainment venues such as bowling alleys and cinemas and hotels must remain closed in tier 3 too.
Boris Johnson also confirmed the expectation was more areas would be placed in a higher tier than before.
