What Gonzalo Higuain's brother has said about the Chelsea striker's future amid Roma links

Gonzalo Higuain would like to see out his contract at parent club Juventus, that is according to his brother and agent Nicholas.

The Argentinian spent the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Stamford Bridge, but is due to return to the Juventus Stadium on the expiry of his loan deal

The 31-year-old scored five goals in 18 appearances in a blue shirt, and has been linked to a move to a number of clubs since the end of the Premier League season. Latest reports have suggested that Roma are targeting the striker as a replacement for former Manchester City man Edin Dzeko, who is expected to join Inter Milan during the transfer window.

However, Higuain's brother has moved to refute the claims and insists that his client will be staying in Turin for the foreseeable future.

"Gonzalo wants to respect his contract and therefore stay with Juventus for another two years," he said, as reported by the Mirror .

"His performances at Juve have been good and playing for another team in Italy isn’t a workable solution.

"I don’t want to disrespect anyone, but if Gonzalo plays in Italy again then he only will for Juve, who own him."

There has also been reports that having retired from international football, the Chelsea loanee would start to wind down his career by returning to his native Argentina, however, Nicholas has also moved diminish that claim.

"I think it’s still too early because Gonzalo is 31 and, once he has recharged his batteries, he’ll be good enough for Juventus," he continued.

"He has no second thoughts about quitting the national team. He felt he had to give way to younger players because staying in the national team for such a long time is a great responsibility and he preferred to withdraw himself."

Higuain signed for Juventus from Napoli in July 2016, he has scored 55 goals in 105 appearances for the Italian giants and will be hoping to add to that tally over the next two seasons.
