What Giovani Lo Celso has said about his Real Betis future amid Spurs and Man City links

Reported Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City transfer target Giovani Lo Celso has previously spoken out about a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

As reported by our sister site MEN Sport, the Lilywhites launched a €60million (£52.8m) bid for the 23-year-old but that offer was rejected by La Liga outfit Real Betis.

It remains to be seen if Spurs go back in with another bid or turn their attentions elsewhere.

The north London outfit have also been linked with a move for Lyon ace Tanguy Ndombele following his impressive performances in the Champions League this season, while Barcelona's Andre Gomes is also on their radar after excelling during a loan spell at Everton.

Should Spurs remain in the hunt for the Argentina international then they are likely to face competition for his signature from Atletico Madrid and possibly former club Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Lo Celso wasn't given too much away when speculation about his future came up two months ago.

"A return to France? I don't know what may happen tomorrow. I try to focus on the present right now," Lo Celso told France Football. "We'll see when the time comes. Barca and Real's interests, I don't think about that. I'm young and I still have a long career ahead of me.

"My main objective is to finish the season as high as possible (in the standings) with Betis.

"You have to stay focused on what you're doing and continue to do what you're doing to keep moving forward. It's not good to think about the transfer window rumours."

Betis only signed the 23-year-old a permanent basis last month, paying €22million to PSG. But the club's failure to qualify for Europe next season means that they may be forced to sell their most prized assets, including Lo Celso.
