What Gini Wijnaldum did in Liverpool warm-up before Southampton game

Gini Wijnaldum has caught the eye with what he did during the warm up ahead of Liverpool’s match against Southampton.

The Reds were taking on the Saints in the Premier League at Anfield, looking to move up the table as they remain in the race for a top four finish.

Jurgen Klopp was dealt a blow in the build-up to the game with four players being ruled out with “minor injury concerns”.

Ozan Kabak, Ben Davies, James Milner and Naby Keita were all unavailable for selection, adding to an already troubling injury list.

Wijnaldum was partnered with Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara in the Liverpool midfield, and certainly showed his skill with a moment of quality in training.

While doing target practice in front of the Kop, Wijnaldum got on the end of a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold and performed a wonderful flick to volley the ball into the net.

Wijnaldum didn’t make a big deal of his skill, though, and just ran back to his mark after the ball went into the goal.

In terms of actual goals, the Dutchman’s end product has dried up this season with his last league strike coming in the 3-1 win over West Ham at the end of January, which was his second of the campaign.
