What Gary Neville noticed about Harry Kane during Tottenham defeat to Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur were humbled by Chelsea on Sunday evening with Nuno Espirito Santo's side going down 3-0 at home in another disappointing display.

After winning their first three Premier League games, optimism around the club rose, but a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace after the international break brought the mood crashing back down to earth.

Harry Kane is still yet to find the goal in the top-flight after a summer of speculation that saw him vocalise his desire to leave the club, with Manchester City strongly interested in his signature.

After the defeat on Sunday, Gary Neville expressed his disappointment in the form of England's captain, stating that the striker looked noticeably drained against Chelsea.

"There were alarm bells and now there will be further questions as he looked despondent towards the end. He was playing against a very good team and he's been part of a Tottenham team in this situation for a number of years," the pundit said on the Gary Neville Podcast.

"As soon as Chelsea went 2-0 up, I was watching and thinking he wouldn't be hanging out on the left for much longer. Nuno switched it straight away but when he did go central, nothing happened. He didn't get more involved in the game.

"But it's never easy when a player wants to leave your club and everyone in the ground and in the dressing room knows that he wants to leave. Things aren't going well.

"He'll be thinking, 'I'm here again'. He'll be thinking, 'I'm not going to challenge for the title again at Tottenham and I'm not even going to get into the top four'. He wanted more."

Two more tough tests are in the offing for Santo's side.

Wednesday night sees the Lilywhites travel to Molineux to face Wolves in the Carabao Cup before what feels like a huge north London derby against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
