What Gary Lineker said about Newcastle United's winning goal vs Everton

Newcastle United rose to the top half of the Premier League standings on Sunday after seeing off Everton 2-1 at St. James' Park.

A brace from Callum Wilson was enough for the home side to keep all three points on Tyneside, inflicting back-to-back Premier League defeats upon Everton for the first time in Carlo Ancelotti's spell in charge.

The visitors could only muster an injury-time consolation from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the only English player to outscore Wilson in the top-flight.

Newcastle 's second of the afternoon saw former Bournemouth duo Ryan Fraser and Wilson combine, with the latter poking home after a cross to the far post.

Newcastle 2-1 Everton - Lee Ryder's Verdict

Former Everton striker Gary Lineker took to social media to issue his verdict on the goal, tweeting: "Fraser to Wilson to score. Seen that before somewhere."

There was some controversy in the match due to the penalty that Wilson done, with the striker admitting after the game he used Yerry Mina's trailing leg to take advantage.

Penalty decisions have been a major talking point this weekend, with Liverpool star Mohamed Salah criticised of diving by Alan Shearer and Danny Murphy on Match of the Day.

That has led to accusations of hypocrisy against the pundits, with Liverpool fans suggesting that their analysis of English players in similar situations was different.

However, asked directly on social media whether Wilson made the most of the incident, Shearer admitted that he felt the Newcastle forward did.
