Arsenal suffered defeat at Wolves on Tuesday night.
But that was down, in no small part, to having two men sent off.
David Luiz saw red on the stroke of half-time, harshly adjudged to have brought down Willian Jose in the box without making an attempt for the ball.
In truth, what happened was a coming together of legs, in a very minimal way, that was accidental.
Bernd Leno, on the other hand, was a definite red card, handling the ball outside the area after misjudging a ball forward.
That all came after Arsenal had enjoyed an impressive first half, scoring through Nicolas Pepe, having a Bukayo Saka goal ruled out for offside and creating countless chances to increase their lead.
Arteta said of the red cards afterwards: "I've just seen the replay ten times in five different angles [Luiz's red card] and I cannot see any contact. I would like to see if VAR has different angles.
"I imagine he makes the decision (Leno) in the split of a second, he makes the reaction naturally to try and stop the ball. There's nothing he can do."
Arteta suggested Arsenal would appeal the Luiz decision, although there has been no confirmation as yet.
The incidents caused much debate among football pundits and fans, and Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker offered his short and sharp verdict on the match.
"Red cards 2 Arsenal 1," he tweeted afterwards.
It will certainly feel like that for Gunners fans, with the Luiz sending off changing the whole complexion of the game. Without it, the Leno situation may not have happened.
