What Gareth Bale has said about Jose Mourinho amid Christian Eriksen swap deal rumours

Rumours regarding the January transfer window are beginning to heat up and Gareth Bale is once again being linked with an exit from Real Madrid.

The Wales international came close to leaving the La Liga giants in the summer, only for a switch to Chinese Super League outfit Jiangsu Suning to collapse at the 11th hour.

Bale has spent the first-half of the season at the Santiago Bernabeu but has been more of a substitute rather than a regular under Los Blancos head coach Zinedine Zidane.

What to expect from Tottenham in the January transfer window

But could Bale be off next month?

Well, reports as per AS claim that Tottenham Hotspur are keen to resign Bale in January and are willing to offer Christian Eriksen - out of contract next summer - as part of a deal.

In addition, the report states that Madrid would also receive a transfer fee of £25.7m.

It remains to be seen if Bale is willing to make a sensational return to north London, but he has spoken highly of current Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho recently.

"Having [Jose] Mourinho there is an amazing statement from the club, I think he's a serial winner," he told BT Sport.

"Tottenham want to win trophies and I don't think there's a better partnership than Mourinho and Tottenham together to try and win some trophies."

Bale's own future at Real Madrid is uncertain after public fall-outs with manager Zinedine Zidane and the club's supporters.

The winger has regularly been jeered at home matches and was criticised for posing with a flag that read: 'Wales, golf, Madrid, in that order,' after the national team qualified for Euro 2020.

"I think the first time it happened [being booed], it was a bit of a shock. I didn't really know how to deal with it," he added. "But as I've got older, it's happened one or two more times and you understand how to deal with it.

"Now I just shrug it off. In way, with respect it's the best place to get whistled if you don't perform which I understand.

"Obviously I have to just keep working hard and keep proving to the fans what I can do. Eventually the whistles do stop and you get on with your career like normal."
