What Gabriel Martinelli did on international duty with Brazil to worry Arsenal fans

Gabriel Martinelli has made quite the impression at Arsenal so far this season.

The young forward has scored seven goals in nine games in all competitions for the Gunners, since making the move from Brazilian side Ituano in the summer.

He has been a shining light for Arsenal fans in a disappointing campaign so far, with Martinelli impressing in the Europa League and Carabao Cup in particular.

But he had a nasty moment yesterday (Thursday) when playing for Brazil's U23 side against USA in a friendly tournament clash as part of the United International Football Festival in the Canary Islands.

When meeting a cross from the right in the first half of the game, Martinelli headed over the bar, but then dramatically crashed into the post, with the momentum from his run leading to the collision.

The impact forced him onto the ground and he was seen holding his chest, although he managed to get up and continue playing, before being substituted in the 75th minute.

The incident happened in the 38th minute of the game, after RB Leipzig attacker Matheus Cunha had given Brazil the lead with a low shot.

That proved to be the only goal of the game as Brazil won 1-0 to progress to the final of the tournament, where they will meet Argentina on Sunday.

Martinelli will hope to be involved in that game, although Arsenal will be keen to see how he is ahead of the Premier League clash with Southampton after the international break.
