What Fulham and Forest's latest slip up means for Leeds United's promotion hopes

Leeds United may have taken only one point from their last three Championship encounters - but that doesn't look to have drastically hurt their title chances, according to the bookies.

The Whites remain favourites to claim the second-tier crown come the end of the season despite having mustered only one win since the start of the festive period, to leave them with a slender advantage over the play-off race below.

Despite lying second as it stands though, punters still believe that they will make amends for last term's failings and go all the way this time, dethroning West Bromwich Albion at the summit.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are priced odds-on to claim first place after the regular season concludes, at 3/4.

Slaven Bilic's Baggies are almost just as likely to however, and are priced at a relatively svelte 11/5 to turn their current one-point lead into silverware.

Both teams have been in something of a free-fall in recent weeks, but they remain comfortably ahead of their nearest rivals in the betting though.

Brentford are next in the pecking order at 7/1, while Fulham and Nottingham Forest's slip-ups in midweek look to have cost them further, with the Cottagers on 18/1 and the Midlands heavyweights available at 33/1.

That being said, they are all some distance ahead of sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday, who are priced at the very long odds of 150/1 to take the title.

Preston North End and Swansea City both sit on 200/1, while Millwall's 250/1 and Bristol City's 500/1 are the final odds before reaching four-figure numbers.

As the bookies see it then, Leeds are still red hot favourites - but they'll have to pull their socks up sooner rather than later...
