What Frank Lampard will tell Everton players in training on Sunday after Brentford FA Cup win

Frank Lampard will deliver a simple message to bring his Everton players back down to earth at training on Sunday morning.

The new Blues boss got his reign off to a winning start with a 4-1 victory over Brentford in the FA Cup at Goodison Park.

Lampard said the occasion was something 'special' and said he had been caught up in the emotion of the afternoon.

But with a trip to Newcastle United, on Tuesday night, to prepare for, the Everton manager says it will be imperative to refocus the squad at Finch Farm today.

"We're straight into a tough run of league games - they're all tough - and we know the position we're in and we want to move up the table," Lampard said.

"It's also my job to put some perspective and some calm on today, it was a good performance and we're through to the next round of the FA Cup.

"But we've got a lot of work to do, we've only had one week to work and to get to where we want to be we need more time to work, but we need to try and get those results in that process because we know that is so important with our league position.

"By the time we wake up tomorrow and go into training it is my job to go: 'okay lads great, well done, here are the huge positives from yesterday but we need to get better'. And hopefully we will do."

"Now I need to calm down and work towards the league games ahead of us, but we saw, hopefully, some real nice signs of what we can take forward," Lampard added.
