Former England under-21s manager Stuart Pearce has hailed Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi after his brace in the under-21s clash against Austria.
Hudson-Odoi started the contest at Stadium MK this evening and put England in front with a wonderful first-time shot which fired into the roof of the net.
Pearce, who has been on BT Sport tonight as part of the commentary team, wasted no time and showered praise on the 18-year-old.
Hudson-Odoi has struggled this season due to injury, having only featured twice for Frank Lampard's men during the 2019/20 league campaign.
But the teenage sensation is now coming into his own and former England under-21s boss Pearce was certainly impressed with his wonderful finish this evening.
"It was an absolutely fantastic finish. The incredible thing was that he made it look so comfortable. He opened the foot out and just stroked it into the goal," Pearce explained during BT Sport's commentary.
"He is playing way above his years. The under-21s need players like him in their ranks."
Hudson-Odoi may only be 18 but he has already featured for the England senior side, though Pearce feels that the Chelsea forward is much better off in the under-21s at the moment.
"It's important that Hudson-Odoi, (Phil) Foden and various other players take advantage of their game-time," Pearce added.
"I always think there is no point pushing them into the first-team. They should stay here for now. Give them 90 minutes and their self-esteem grows."
Hudson-Odoi added another wonderful striker from outside the box before the break as England led 4-0 at half-time.
