Former Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte could be set for a return to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur.
According to reports in Italy, Spurs are locked in talks with the former Inter Milan chief about the prospect of him becoming Jose Mourinho's permanent successor at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs, who will discover their fixture list for the 2021/22 Premier League campaign in a couple of weeks time, have been working tirelessly in their attempts to source Mourinho's replacement but have continued to hit bumps in the road with their efforts.
After making an attempt to try and bring Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino back to north London, although PSG are not budging in their reluctance to let go of him, Conte, who exited Inter last week, could now be the man to become Spurs' new boss.
According to reports in Conte's homeland, talks are ongoing over the project he would be expected to carry out, his contract length and salary, suggesting that there is a determination from Spurs to get this done and get him in place ahead of pre-season.
Should everything go to plan and talks prove successful between Conte and Spurs owner Daniel Levy, it would see the Italian fulfil his ambition of returning to the Premier League after his time in charge of Chelsea between 2016 and 2018.
On the prospect of returning to England to take on a second challenge, Conte, speaking back in November, said: “I have this season and another year of my contract at Inter.
“I started a project here, and, honestly, I want to continue this project and stay for many years because we are building the bases.
“But, for sure, in my future, I want to come back to England to have another experience because I enjoyed my stay there a lot and to breathe the atmosphere in England.
“For me, for my family, I’d like to one day come back to England because we lived an incredible experience and we want to continue to have another experience in England."
Considering Conte has previously outlined his desire to return to England, Levy may face a fairly straightforward task in convincing him to take the job on.
The 51-year-old enjoyed plenty of success at Chelsea, winning both the Premier League and FA Cup in his only two full seasons in charge.
As well as that, the Italian is likely to be itching to get back into work after leaving Inter last week.
