What football fans can do to stop Bolton Wanderers or Bury FC situation happening to their club

The future of Bury FC is hanging in the balance after the EFL issued the club with an expulsion deadline.

The EFL extended their previous Friday deadline to 5pm today (Tuesday), with Bury seemingly on the brink after a late deal with C&N Sporting Risk fell through before the aforementioned deadline passed.

However, it's said that there are three offers on the table which have now been forwarded on by owner Steve Dale to the EFL.

Statements from the EFL and Bury are expected later on Tuesday night as the club's fans hold their breath.

But it's not just Bury supporters who are angry and frustrated by the League One outfit's situation.

Fans across the board are worried for the club's future, something which has even inspired one football supporter to set up a petition.

The aim of the petition is to 'legislate for the creation of an independent regulator for football and subsequently to oversee the implementation of such a body'.

At the time of writing the petition was just shy of 5,000 signatures. 10,000 signatures would mean the government would have to respond to the petition. If 100,000 signatures are received the petition would be considered for a debate in Parliament.
