Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the appointment of Antonio Conte as the club's new head coach on a 18-month deal, replacing Nuno Espirito Santo.
Santo was sacked as Spurs manager on Monday morning following a convincing 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend, one that saw players, manager and the board booed by the fans.
However, Spurs have moved very quickly and have finally got Conte in after failing to agree a deal with the Italian in the summer.
A statement from the club's website read: "We are delighted to announce the appointment of Antonio Conte as our Head Coach on a contract until the summer of 2023, with an option to extend."
It means that Fabio Paratici, Spurs' Managing Director of Football, has finally got his number one managerial target.
The two worked together during Conte's spell in Turin as Juventus' head coach, and the pair will be hoping for more success in the future.
“We are delighted to welcome Antonio to the Club. His track record speaks for itself, with vast experience and trophies in both Italy and England," he said.
“I know first-hand the qualities Antonio can bring to us, having worked with him at Juventus, and look forward to seeing his work with our talented group of players.”
The arrival of Conte comes ahead of Thursday's Europa Conference League clash against Vitesse Arnhem, before the team then travel to Goodison Park on Sunday to take on Everton in the Premier League.
Tottenham players will get to sample life under Conte for the first time on the training ground this week but football.london understands that they will actually have to bide their time until they can actually work with the 52-year-old as the Italian and his coaching staff are waiting on work permits as things stand.
