What Extinction Rebellion is planning for 'phase two' of protests

Earlier this month, campaign group Extinction Rebellion caused disruption and controversy during an "unprecedented" five-day protest in Bristol.

Hundreds of environmentalists took to the streets in a bid to raise awareness of the 'climate emergency' and caused traffic chaos throughout the city centre .

Activists are planning their upcoming 'Autumn Rebellion' but have confirmed it will be more London-focused this time round.

A spokesman for Bristol's branch of Extinction Rebellion said: "As with April's Spring Rebellion, the Autumn Rebellion will be focused on London.

"It will start on October 7 and be ongoing.

"There is a small possibility of local actions happening for anyone not able to make it to London but I don't think they would be anything too major."

Extinction Rebellion's Jayne Forbes confirmed it will be more focused on the capital city in order to put pressure on central Government.

"We're looking at a bigger protest than the Spring Rebellion in April for phase two," she said.

"This time we're going to focus on the 'Act Now' side of things because the Government is not telling the truth.

"People in their local areas may do actions to put pressure on local government too but these will be smaller."

She added that plans for the demonstration in London are still being decided on.

Extinction Rebellion has recently it damaged a banner placed over the M32 by vegan campaigners.
