What exactly was written on Logan Roy’s handwritten note in the latest episode of Succession?

Warning: DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED EPISODE 4 OF SUCCESSION SEASON 4.

Ready?

Ok.

Welcome to our Succession Power Rankings! Each week of the show’s ten-episode final season, For The Win will chat about the latest episode to see how everyone in the Succession universe is doing. Let’s dig into it.

After last week’s episode of Succession became the highest-rated episode of any show ever on IMDB, this week’s episode was going to be critical.

During this episode, “Honeymoon States”, we learn the late Logan Roy left a note in a safe outlining his wishes for what should happen upon his death. While that includes funeral arrangements, it also potentially references who he wanted to take over for him as CEO.

We don’t know when the note was written, but we do know that Kendall’s name is included — though it was either underlined or struck through.

RELATED: Avoiding major Succession spoilers is simple: Watch it live. It’s appointment TV.

We also know that Karl and Frank were the first people to see the note and that they didn’t want the “little princess” to screw up their plans.

Who was the little princess they were referring to? Was it Kerry, who was at least aware of some note? Other possibilities include Gerri, Marcia, Siobhan, Tom, Roman, or even Kendall.

Also at least somewhat noteworthy: Cousin Greg’s name is included as “an addendum of miscellaneous matters” but in pencil and with a question mark.

Here is what else is happening:

When she tried to show up at Logan’s wake and head upstairs to find an important item, she was visibly hysterical and then escorted to leave out the back door. “We’re calling Kerry a taxi to the subway so she can go home to her little apartment.”

Hugo Baker

Well, it certainly seems like Hugo Baker and his daughter were involved in some insider trading at Waystar Royco on the day of Logan’s death. Now, he is getting blackmailed by the new CEO of the company.

Greg Hirsch

Oh, buddy. Greg suggested that Logan would have wanted him as “second in line” and he became the laughingstock of the entire room. This is the face of an entirely powerless individual.

Tom Wambsgans

At every chance he got, Tom told whoever would listen that he is simply “here to serve” but it didn’t matter. When he suggested himself as the interim CEO, he was bluntly told by Karl: “You are a clumsy interloper and no one trusts you. The only guy pulling for you is dead, you’re just married to the ex-bosses daughter and she doesn’t even like you.”

Gerri Kellman

When Tom told Geri that he was sick with grief about Logan’s passing, she said: “You’re sick with grief? You might want to put down that fish taco. You’re getting your melancholy everywhere.” And when she was told Logan was souring on her, she had an even better response. But she already had her opportunity as interim CEO, and it wasn’t happening again.

When he suggested himself as the potential interim CEO, he was told he is a “corporate legend” for what he did for cable in the 1990s. He was not about to take control of the company, but he was privy to what Logan wrote on a handwritten note — and he didn’t want a “little princess” to screw up plans.

8
Frank Vernon

David M. Russell/HBO

Frank, who was the executor of Logan’s will, found an important note from the former Waystar Royco CEO. Did he potentially change what the note said to make it more aligned with what he wanted next?

7
Siobhan Roy

David M. Russell/HBO

The big news of the episode is that Siobhan is secretly pregnant. While she had a scary fall and her two brothers were named co-CEO while she was left on the outside looking in, she was promised they would include her in all of the decision-making processes to follow.

6
Connor Roy

Although he wasn’t even in the discussion about potentially becoming the interim CEO, that isn’t what he wants — Connor is, after all, still technically running for President of the United States. He also just acquired Logan’s old home with a handshake deal. Not bad!

5
Stewy Hosseini

Stewy is there to comfort Kendall and help provide him with a vote of confidence to take over as the interim CEO. He is one of Kendall’s closest confidants and with Kendall taking over control, this is great news for Stewy.

4
Marcia Roy

David M. Russell/HBO

Marcia, Logan’s estranged wife, revealed that she shared “intimate” chats with her husband every night until the bitter end. She also made a quick $63 million by selling Logan’s house to Connor.

3
Lukas Matsson

We didn’t actually see Lukas Matsson in this episode, but it’s pretty obvious that next week, he is going to become a massive power broker as the GoJo deal approaches a conclusion in Sweden.

2
Roman Roy

At least Tom knew that Logan would have wanted to elevate Roman from COO to CEO. But he still ended up as co-CEO after Roman revealed that he was still very close to Logan at the end and he is also close with Matsson.

Kendall Roy

It is fairly wild that after everything Kendall publicly did to shame his father, he still ended up as the interim CEO. His spirits were lifted after he learned of a note that suggested his dad may have wanted him as the successor — but we don’t know when the note was written, if his name was crossed out, or if it is even a real note from Logan at all.
