Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has previously hailed Manchester United icon Cristiano Ronaldo, amid reports linking the Argentine to the vacant head coach position.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked as United boss on Sunday morning following a 4-1 defeat to newly-promoted Watford - a result that left the Red Devils eighth in the current Premier League standings.
Michael Carrick has since been placed in temporary charge as the club look for an interim coach to take charge until the end of the season, with a permanent manager to be appointed next summer.
Paris Saint-Germain's Pochettino has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford and our sister title Manchester Evening News have since reported that the 49-year-old is open to the prospect of joining United.
If the former Spurs hero did end up at Old Trafford, he would be given the chance to work with the aforementioned Ronaldo, a player that he has previously spoken of in the highest regard.
Speaking on Ronaldo back in 2017, Pochettino said: "He has been awarded ‘The Best’ and the truth is that he deserves it.
"In addition to his qualities as a professional, he is an example. He never tires of repeating that the secret is to work hard, to strive, to take care of himself
"Every player should apply it."
Pochettino also compared the Portuguese legend to Tottenham centre-forward Harry Kane, with the Argentine heaping praise on the professionalism demonstrated by both.
"I do not know Cristiano in-depth, but he gives me the same feeling as Harry," Pochettino added. "They are very similar in terms of professionalism.
"They understand that we must strive to achieve success. He [Kane] has a similar mentality."
