What Everton chairman Bill Kenwright told Bernard after goal-scoring performance

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright saluted the "great goal" scored by Bernard after joining in the player's interview with Brazilian television.

Bernard broke the deadlock against West Ham at Goodison yesterday after twisting and turning away from Arthur Masuaka and Declan Rice to score a fine solo goal.

The Blues dominated the game but only made sure of a first win in five league matches when Gylfi Sigurdsson fired into the top corner from outside the box in time added on.

But it was Bernard, recalled to the starting line-up, who set Marco Silva's side on course for the victory and as he was preparing to be interviewed by ESPN Brazil, Kenwright walked by and stopped to congratulate the 27-year-old.

He said: "I love this boy.  I've loved him from the first time I saw him on the pitch.

"He's defending, he's up, he's in the middle...it's what Evertonians love more than anything.

"By the way, great goal.  Well done."
