Erling Haaland was on English soil on Tuesday night.
The striker, who has been linked with a summer transfer to Chelsea as well as Manchester United and Real Madrid, lead the line for Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie against Man City.
Pep Guardiola's side are another side rumoured to be interested in the 20-year-old, although the Spaniard has done his very best to play down any talk of a move.
"Spending a lot of money on one player doesn't give you an advantage to win," Guardiola said. "Football is a team game, everyone makes a contribution.
"Competitions are not won by one player, it is every player. So far the club has decided not to spend close to £100million for a player.
"Maybe in the future, it will happen when the club decides it is necessary to improve the team for the next five to ten years but so far the organisation decides not to do it and that's why we didn't do it but maybe in the future."
It remains to be seen which club manages to capture Haaland's signature in the future, but it would appear Champions League football must be on the table.
Prior to kick-off at the Etihad Stadium, the Norway international was spotted singing along to the famous Champions League anthem.
That simply outlined his love for the competition and was possibly a transfer message to his potential suitors as well as his current club.
Winning the trophy is Dortmund's best chance of playing in the tournament next season as they are currently seven points off the top-four in the Bundesliga table.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are far from guaranteed playing among Europe’s elite in 2021/22 following a 5-2 loss at home to West Brom at the weekend that saw them drop out of the top-four in the Premier League.
So simply put, based on Haaland's actions before facing Man City, it would seem that the Blues must make sure they qualify for the Champions League if they're serious about signing the 20-year-old.
And then it will come down to changing Dortmund's transfer stance as the German club's CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has insisted there are no plans to cash in on Haaland this summer.
"We do not have a parallel plan. We will discuss this with Erling, his father and his agent Mino Raiola," Watzke told Goal and DAZN. "We also want him to be happy to stay with us, to score goals for BVB next year with conviction.
"There is no alternative plan. I’m not getting involved in probabilities, it’s no good."
