Tottenham's dismal start to the 2019/20 season hit a new low on Saturday as they fell to a 3-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Seagulls fully deserved the three points at the Amex and Spurs were perhaps lucky to leave having only conceded the three goals.
As bad as the 7-2 humbling against Bayern Munich was in midweek as the German side ran riot in the closing stages, this was a new low for the team in a week Mauricio Pochettino and his squad will want to forget about in a hurry.
The Lilywhites haven't been in this type of situation during the Argentine's time in the capital and Eric Dier believes that what has been written about the club over the past few weeks is actually "very far from the reality".
Asked if the team accept that they are currently under the spotlight, he said: "Yeah, it's normal. I think we've been very lucky to be in a position where we haven't really ever been in this situation we find ourselves in now.
"It's a situation that we have to accept. All of us it's on us and we're the ones that can change it.
"I think the manager and players have said before that we have to accept that we enjoy when people compliment us and we have to accept it when people are talking in this way about us.

"It's only natural but at the same time I think we have to be realistic and I think a lot of stuff from the outside is very far from the reality."
Amid talk of an unsettled squad at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the end of a cycle following their frustrating start to the campaign, Dier has quashed talk that this is the case.
"I know that's not the case, I think in my opinion," he added.
"It's natural that these things all come up now because of the situation we find ourselves in.
"We just need to all push to get out of it.
"This is the first time we've found ourselves in this position and we can't back down from it, we've got to push through it."
