What Edouard Mendy and Trevoh Chalobah did after Chelsea thrashed Norwich 7-0 at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea thrashed Norwich City 7-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, a victory that keeps the Blues at the top of the Premier League for another game week.

The Blues ran riot against the Canaries, as goals from Mason Mount (x3), Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James, Ben Chilwell and an own goal from Max Aarons gave the hosts a comfortable three points.

What happened after the game was a little strange, however, as Edouard Mendy and Trevoh Chalobah were escorted out of Stamford Bridge by security - presumably to wherever their taxi was picking them up from.

Although it’s by no means extraordinary for something like this to happen, it’s slightly bizarre that it happened with several fans still around, plus you would typically expect players to be picked up in the club's car park.

Nevertheless, the two were all smiles after Chelsea’s impressive win, and were happy to stop to take photos with supporters, as captured on social media site Reddit.

Their unusual exit was never going to dampen their spirits, and both will be fully focused on the next challenges that lie ahead.

Although Mendy is probably going to be rotated for Kepa Arrizabalaga in the Blues’ clash with Southampton in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, Chalobah could well be handed another first-team appearance in his breakthrough season at the club.

The two met prior to the international break at the beginning of the month, and Chelsea left it late to find two goals to see off Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side as they went onto win the clash 3-1.

Anything can happen in the cup but Thomas Tuchel will be fully aware of that and will be preparing his team for what promises to be a difficult encounter.
