What Edinburgh's Leithers want for Christmas, according to this toilet graffiti

Typically toilet graffiti consists of weird shoutouts to people who probably never see them, rude words and people's nicknames with a 2k19 tag...but not in Leith.

As always, Leithers are ahead of the curb and are proving to be a liberal bunch, judging by a  Christmas list scrawled onto a toilet cubicle in The Tourmalet pub.

While vandalism is not encouraged, Jo Ogilvie spotted the list after a trip to the loo and couldn't help but share.

Writing on Twitter, she said: "Reason number one million to love Leith. Because even the toilet graffiti is [cool] AF."

The list begins "all I want for Christmas is", with wishes that include: Decriminalisation of sex work, an end to deportation, abolition of the prison complex and free education.

Also on the list is "abortion on demand" - two doctors must sign off on an abortion in Scotland - and "gender recognition without having to apply to a panel" - under current UK laws, you have to apply to the Government’s Gender Recognition Panel to legally change your sex.

Then there was "one nice day" (we hope they were talking about the weather) and "cheese"...because Christmas wouldn't be the same without your dairy hit.

This isn't the first time the neighbourhood has outdone us all, a Leith woman recently set a Guinness world record for the fastest half marathon run in an inflatable T-Rex suit.

It's no surprise after all, considering Leith was voted one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world by Time Out magazine last year.
