What Eddie Nketiah has told England U21 boss about Leeds loan spell amid talk of Arsenal recall

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is enjoying his loan spell at Leeds United, England Under-21 manager Aidy Boothroyd has said.

Following an impressive pre-season with the Gunners, the youngster joined the Championship outfit on transfer deadline day with the view to aid his development this term.

And despite netting three goals in his first four appearances for Marcelo Biesla's side - including strikes on his Carabao Cup as well as league debuts - Nketiah is still awaiting a start in the Championship.

He was an unused substitute in the 1-0 win over West Brom at the beginning of the month and got 28 minutes in the 2-1 loss away at Millwall before the international break.

All of which has promoted talk of Nketiah being recalled by Arsenal in January and potentially seeing out the second half of the season at Bristol City.

Speculation regarding his future didn't affect the 20-year-old on Tuesday night as he netted a hat-trick - and also missed a penalty - as the England u21's ran out 5-1 winners over their Austrian counterparts.

Following the match at Stadium MK, Boothroyd was quizzed about Nketiah and predicted the striker will do well when he returns to Elland Road.

"He gets his minutes with us and I’m sure he’ll do well at his club team," Boothroyd said.

"He is in a brilliant place, learning off a great coach and I know because he has said he is enjoying being there at such a big club and when he comes to us he is ready and fresh hopefully we can send him back as a better player."

As reported by football.london earlier in the week, sources close to Nketiah insist that there have been no discussions between the player and two clubs over a potential mid-season recall.

Furthermore, that situation is not expected to be addressed until next month's international break.

Speaking about Nketiah last month, Leeds boss Bielsa did label him as a "complete player".

"Some players are involved a lot before creating chances," he said. "Nketiah is more involved at the end of the action but he has good characteristics to combine with his team-mates to give us these options.

"He is a striker who can score goals. For me, he is a complete player."
