'What dreams are made of' - Bruno Guimaraes' Newcastle United performance hailed by MOTD pundits

Leon Osman has hailed Bruno Guimaraes’ impact at Newcastle United following his last-gasp winner against Leicester. In front of a sold-out St James’ Park crowd, the Brazilian netted a brace that inspired the Magpies to a dramatic comeback victory.

Guimaraes ran the length of the pitch in the final minute of stoppage time before converting Joe Willock’s cross - and causing all hell to break loose on the terraces. Yesterday’s match-winning display was only the second home game the 24-year-old has started in Newcastle colours but he is already a firm fan favourite on Tyneside.

Former Everton midfielder Osman believes signing Guimaraes was an astute move by the Magpies, citing his attitude as well as his ability.

“In a world where we try to find the best players, I think finding the right characters is important,” he said on Match of the Day 2. “Finding the people that can fit into your style (and) what the fans want to see as well.

"He’s (Guimaraes) brought all of that into his game. He's technically very gifted, but he's prepared to run the distance in the 95th minute. To have run that distance in the 95th minute, at the Gallowgate End, without breaking stride, top corner… it’s what dreams are made of.”

Ex-Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock pointed to Newcastle’s January window overall as being a huge success. He added: “I think the big thing for Newcastle is their business was outstanding in January. That's what's kept them up and again, it's not going for world superstars, it’s going for players who understand the league.”
