What Donny van de Beek did before Manchester United's win against Tottenham

Donny van de Beek did something before Manchester United's game against Tottenham on Saturday frustrated fans filming from the stands.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer received unprecedented scrutiny and calls for him to be relieved of his duties after United lost 5-0 to Liverpool last weekend, but the Norwegian survived that debacle to remain in charge for the game against Spurs this weekend.

It was inevitable that Solskjaer would make changes for the game against Tottenham and the United boss duly switched formation.

That proved to be an inspired decision as United won 3-0 in London thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford, although it was actually Scott McTominay in midfield that Solskjaer hailed as his 'Man of the Match' after the game.

McTominay and Fred started in the centre with Bruno Fernandes just ahead, which meant Van de Beek was on the bench again. The Dutchman has still only played five minutes of football in the Premier League this season and his lack of game time has been perplexing for many supports.

And before the Spurs game, Van de Beek was spotted by a supporter seemingly helping the warm-up.

Van de Beek was spotted teeing up the ball for United's players in a pre-match shooting drill.

The fan commentated that he thought the midfielder was doing the job of a coach, and Van de Beek's non-appearance from the bench was unsurprising at Tottenham.

The Dutchman has struggled for regular game time at United since his £40m arrival from Ajax last summer. Solskjaer has handed the midfielder just 140 minutes across all competitions this season.

Amid a slurry of stories regarding his future, amid links to Everton and others, Van de Beek has recently changed agents.
