What Dominik Szoboszlai did against Bayern Munich amid talk of future Arsenal transfer

Arsenal are two signings away from being Premier League title challengers.

That is the view of Gunners legend Tony Adams who says key additions in goal and in central midfield could transform his former club from a top-six team to competing with Liverpool and Manchester City.

"They'll finish above United. I think they're a top six team," Adams told Stadium Astro. "There are some great positive signs, but they are missing a goalkeeper and a number 10, someone up-front, to be champions.

Mikel Arteta : I like players with zero ego

"We have a couple of leaders in central defence and midfield.

"We’re getting closer."

Despite the extended summer transfer window closing at the beginning of October, the north London outfit continue to be linked with moves ahead of January and next summer.

Interestingly, a creative midfielder to finally replace Mesut Ozil is one of technical director Edu's top priorities amid links to the likes of Lyon's Houssem Aouar and Dominik Szoboszlai.

football.london first revealed Arsenal's interest in Szoboszlai in the summer of 2019 and scouts have been in regular attendance at Red Bull Salzburg games ever since.

If those Arsenal officials have kept a close eye on the Austrian outfit's Champions League group games so far this season, they will have been impressed with Szoboszlai's eye for goal.

On matchday one he equalised for the hosts against Lokomotiv Moscow on the stroke of half-time with an unstoppable effort from outside the area that sent many Arsenal fans into a transfer frenzy.

A week later he equalised for Salzburg against Atletico Madrid, prompting Gunners supporters to demand his arrival as soon as January.

On Tuesday night he was in action against reigning Champions of Europe in Bayern Munich and despite being on the losing side, Szoboszlai still managed to catch the eye of many Arsenal fans on Twitter...

@OzilThings said: "Szoboszlai is ridiculously good. Most chances created on the pitch so far vs Bayern, such a great player. For just £24m~ (3x £8m instalments) we’d be really dumb not to sign him in January."

@marco_gooner said: "Szoboszlai registered 4 key passes tonight vs arguably the best team in Europe.

"Have we even made 4 key passes so far this season?"

@LARA_COYG said: "Szoboszlai might be better than Aouar and I am afraid we will miss our chance."
