What Dominic Calvert-Lewin needs to do in training to make himself Everton's main man

Two legendary Premier League strikers have pinpointed where they think Dominic Calvert-Lewin needs to improve in Everton training.

The Blues were held to a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday, with that game representing the sixth in a row that the Blues forward has failed to find the back of the net.

Calvert-Lewin has been impressing many over the last few weeks leading the line for Marco Silva's side, however the criticism about his form in front of goal has also been growing.

Roy Hodgson makes honest admission after Crystal Palace escape with Everton draw

It's something both Alan Shearer and Ian Wright have picked up on - but they have pinpointed areas the Everton man can improve himself on the training pitch.

"Absolutely (he needs to add more goals)," Shearer told Match Of The Day.

"I like his hold-up play, he’s good in the air. But the one thing he needs to improve on is his goalscoring.

"He’s had a couple of chances, the first one he was never really in control of it and it was a weak shot. The second one, he didn’t make his run as difficult for the defender as it should have been.

Stubborn Crystal Palace have put big dent in wayward Everton's Europa League dream

"There’s so many drills you can do in training to improve your movement. He’s got big Duncan with him on the coaching staff so I’m sure he’s working with him."

Along with movement, Wright believes that Calvert-Lewin needs to work on getting himself in the right areas to score.

He added: "It’s all about gambling. I used to do exactly that. You’ve got to get used to it in training so you can do it in the games."
